ABOUT

When it comes to any home project, it’s essential to work with an experienced and knowledgeable general contractor. Unfortunately, many people underestimate the special skills an exceptional contractor possesses. For a project to be successful, it’s important to set the right expectations upfront, communicate throughout, and manage each phase of the project efficiently while delivering the highest quality craftsmanship. An expert contractor also knows how to coordinate with trade partners to keep the project on schedule.

As a Tauer Inc. client, you can expect our team to go the extra mile to ensure your project is done right. Our free consultation process allows us to get to know you and learn about your overall vision and budget. From there, we can create different design options to show you where your money is best spent so you can get the most out of your budget.

Throughout the project, Joey Tauer will be your main point of contact. His communication skills are one of the many characteristics that set Tauer Inc. apart from other home builders. He and the entire Tauer Inc. team are committed to listening and understanding our client’s thoughts and concerns. We make it a point to provide thorough explanations to whatever questions arise during the project.

We encourage you to review our work and read testimonials from past clients. When you’re ready to move forward, get in touch with our team to schedule a free on-site consultation.

Joey Tauer, Owner

Joey Tauer

Joey grew up in a small town in Minnesota. His dad was a farmer and full-time carpenter who showed Joey how important it is to work hard; he also taught Joey how to swing a hammer. By the time he was fifteen-years-old, Joey had already helped with several significant home remodeling and construction projects. In addition to learning the ins and outs of carpentry, he spent a summer working on a survey crew and two summers learning concrete and masonry.

Growing up, Joey played as many team sports as possible before eventually graduating from Sibley East High School. He attended St. John’s University, where he received a B.A. in Business Management. While in college, Joey continued to work in carpentry, using the funds to put himself through school. After graduation, he worked as a project manager for several custom home builders. During that time, he discovered a true passion for helping people make their home improvement goals a reality and was inspired to start his own company, Tauer Inc. Joey is grateful to do what he loves day in and day out, helping people create the home of their dreams.

When he’s not working, Joey enjoys spending time with his family. He married his wife, Rachel, in 2015, and their family has since grown to include three boys: James (6), Carson (4), and Brody (2). The family of five recently moved to Chanhassen, Minnesota, and are looking forward to spending many years there. Besides enjoying quality time with family and friends, Joey also has many hobbies, including hunting, fishing, boating, and cooking.

James Mossberg, Lead Carpenter

James

Joey and Jamie met nearly 20 years ago while working for a custom home builder, and the pair have been coworkers and friends ever since! Jamie’s father was a contractor, and he learned the art of carpentry at an early age. His experience has contributed to him becoming a true master carpenter skilled in all areas of carpentry. His expertise includes framing, millwork, cabinetry, doors, windows, and tile work.

Fun fact: Jamie used to be a professional water skier and grew up on Green Lake in Spicer, Minnesota.

Tyler Agre, Apprentice Carpenter

Tyler

As Tauer Inc.’s apprentice carpenter, Tyler is learning from the best. He also happens to be Joey’s younger brother! Tyler has been a fantastic complement to Jamie and has been known to keep him on his toes by asking excellent questions. He is a fast learner, an incredibly hard worker, and is thoughtful in his approach. With a knack for the mathematical side of things, Tyler always pays close attention to the details.

Fun fact: Tyler recently started a family and loves to play amateur baseball — aka town team.

“I asked Joey to work with an unfamiliar product and he was eager to jump in and get the project done with precision. At the end of every evening the work-space was tidy making the space usable when he wasn't there.”
